Well, I screwed up my journal settings. I was trying to make a Jeremy Margi Sucks community (I'll still get to that) but I entered all the information and such into this one. I was too bored to fix all that, so I made a new journal.
gunners_dream It's friends only. Go, comment, add. I'll do the same.

Pink Floyd - "Have a Cigar" |
] |
Oh, oh, guess where I am, you'll never get it.
Might go to Exit 23 tonight. Need a ride home. Tomorrow = work. Work = shit. Tomorrow = shit. Sunday has potential to be good. Except work.
I need summer so badly. I can't wait for the next game of manhunt. I can't wait for SDH practices with breaks to play nerdball. I long for waking up late every day and making plans with friends at the last second. My goal for this summer is to make it the absolute best it can be. I'll need to get off the computer a lot more though.
No one's online right now. I forgot that it's like 8:30 AM. On a school day. Duh.

Pink Floyd - "Time" |
] |
In the computer lab again. It's so funny not being accounted for anywhere in school. This time I have a CD, fortunately. Just got done in the library, researching Porphyria. Heard about it from that sweet AFI song. Printed the lyrics too, I don't think it will help me any.
Gotta go get some homework to do since this is study.

I don't think I have any real reason to update. I'm just bored, and don't want to go to work tonight. I'm probably going to be bored tonight too. Anything going on? Anywhere? Anyone? Call/leave messages on my cell, 978-944-0705. Or comment here, but I'll be at work all day.

| Day 2 = Not so good |
[23 May 2004|02:51pm] |
Almost didn't even go to the show, but my dad was able to give me a ride home after all. Too bad none of my friends came, though. Fortunately I met this girl Sarah and hung out with her, she was there alone too, so last night didn't totally suck. The opening band, Fruitless Attempt at Glory, never showed up at all. Fock em. The River Bottom ended up going first. It was actually the best I've seen them yet, and that dates back to when they were The Primary. I was surprised to see that they brought a good amount of kids. Actually, the turnout overall was very impressive, especially for me not having brought anyone, despite ruthless promotion. The Drop Antenna played next. I don't know what I think of them. The bassist was probably the best bassist I've ever heard outside of like national acts. The guitarist was also really good, and the way they played together was crazy. But I'm not sure, I just couldn't really get into their music. They went from funky, Red Hot Chili Peppers-type shit to sounding vaguely like Coheed & Cambria (for lack of better comparison). Oest closed, and they played pretty well. They played the 3 songs I know, and the other 2 or 3 sounded pretty similar, but I could tell they were tight, well-rehearsed. I meant to ask the guitarist how much he got his Vox 4x12 for, but I didn't get a chance to. I want one of those so bad. Oh right, Oest, they were good. Yeah. Had to leave, walked over to Dunkin Donuts with Sarah then I got picked up. Strangely enough, my dad was waiting for me.

Actions in Objects - "Enjoyyourshowbot" |
] |
Last night was the first night of Pleasant Winter St. Fest. It turned out so much better than I'd expected, so I'm pretty happy. Erin came and I stayed with her the whole night, so that was like double-good. Great show, great girl. Editedit was fucking nuts, or at least Q and Tim were, because the drummer looked kind of unsure of himself. Actually, the singer was pretty crazy too, he just was facing away like the whole time. Their set was 4 songs, but about 3 minutes in total. Next came Quinn. The thing I love the most about Quinn is how their sounds (guitar tones, drum parts) serve their genre perfectly. They played a great set, followed up by TTE. We did alright I think, but I used Quinn's drummer's kit with what I believe is Chris Q's double kick. I didn't like either. But we still managed to play alright, and it seemed like we brought some brutal mosh too. After us was Actions in Objects. They must have played the best set of the night. They brought so many kids, and every last one of them was getting into the music, not to mention that the band members were flipping out. I talked to them after, they're wicked nice guys too. I hope someday that SDH could play a show with them, they seem like they might be a good band to play alongside, instead of random pop-punkish stuff. Speaking of which, Model 15 came on after them, and a lot of kids left before them. I heard they were talking shit about all the other bands the whole time, so I guess the kids there didn't feel like giving them the respect of staying. It's too bad because from what I heard, they put on a pretty solid set. Apparently they got signed to Tooth & Nail, so they must think they're so high and mighty that they can belittle the other bands trying to have a good show.
Hopefully tonight goes just as well.

| Pleasant Street Fest. |
[18 May 2004|09:51pm] |
For several reasons, I'm thinking that PSF is going to fall far short of my expectations. Day 1 will probably reign superior, but I have a lot of doubts about Day 2. A lot of people are wondering why we didn't keep it at Dave's house on Pleasant Street. The reasons should be obvious enough: when there are bands coming from all over Massachusetts and New Hampshire, they're probably not going to be happy that they came all that way, just to play at a little garage to a whopping 4 or 5 people, outside the other bands. Plus, at Exit 23, it holds the same small-venue charm, involves no spending, not to mention that all the bands get paid. It would be fun to have another show at Dave's garage again, now that we've gotten better/more popular. Although Olivia may have her objections to that, haha. In any case, you should go to Pleasant Street Fest anyway. Day 1 bands: Actions in Objects (listen) (Easton/Sharon, MA indie/emo rock) Model 15 (listen) (NH Emo Punk) To The End (listen) (my band, North Andover hardcore, Chris Q's last show I think) Quinn (Gloucester indie/emo rock) Editedit (MA grind) Day 2 bands: The River Bottom (Salem, NH grind) The Drop Antenna (listen) (Merrimack rock, very talented) Oest (listen) (Merrimack emo rock) Fruitless Attempt at Glory (listen)(West Brookfield "ecclectic" rock/punk)
I posted the links to mp3s and stuff so people might listen and like the bands and maybe go. Hint hint. HINT HINT.
Finally, don't forget that all this is happening This Friday, May 21st and This Saturday, May 22nd at Club Exit 23 (246 Winter St., Haverhill, MA) with doors opening at 7:30 PM for $5. Please go, if only to humor everyone who set this up (mostly me).

The Who - "Who Are You" |
] |
So last night was the Battle of the Bands. Decent turnout, could have been better. To The End got second place. Better Than Candles won, but only because they got Mark back in the band and had a Told in Photographs reunion. Sneaky fucks. No, I was very excited to see them again, and I'm even happier that they're actually back together. I'm only upset about SDH not being able to play because I think we would have had such a good chance at 1st. I hear Ian's gonna be able to play guitar in another 2.5 or 3 weeks, and he's going to be out of his sling in another week or so. SDH will return sooner than you think.
People liked my orange Margaritaville hat.

"New Year's Song" - Told in Photographs |
] |
So tomorrow night is battle of the bands (you'd all better come for To The End). Q didn't show up to practice yesterday, so we got absolutely nothing done. Well, we installed the air conditioner into the window, and it sliced my hand open in 22 places at once. It was good. Then we went to Jimmy's which was good, not even sarcastically. Overall, a very unproductive practice, considering no practicing whatsoever ensued. I doubt TTE will win the battle of the bands, just because we're a hardcore band. The only exception would be if whoever is judging is extremely fair. Somone who looks for hooks and structure in the music, and talent, energy and coordination as a band, instead of the best of the most listener-friendly genre. In case you've missed my previous journal entries or are seeing this on a friends list of somebody's, here's all the information you need: What: Battle of the Bands Where: Joseph N. Hermann Youth Center, North Andover, MA When: TOMORROW NIGHT, May 14th, 2004 at 7:20 PM Who: Quinn (ex-Postwardream) Surgency (needs no introduction) Better Than Candles (ex-Told in Photographs) Kimbo/Pickul (acoustic covers, apparently) To The End Harvard Shootout (ex-Suburban Disaster) Why: Because proms were last weekend so there's no excuse not to be able to come. It's not in Bedford, NH, it's not at the Sad Cafe, it's nowhere remotely inaccessible. It's right in the middle of town, so GO.

Pink Floyd - "San Tropez" |

New background again. It's in the same vein as my previous two.
Went to dinner at the Alamo last night, excellent food. Also, Jeremy and I started a Homies collection. I got 2 but he got like 20936405973605. For confirmation, my sister gave me a book called Buddhist Thought and Ritual. It's actually very interesting, and it made me want to go back for more acupuncture and take another session of yoga, maybe go regularly as to have some physical activity. Worked tonight. I'm getting sick of Butcher Boy but it's not like I'm going to quit and find another job. Yet. I want a good digital camera, for cheap. Anyone wanna help me out?
